
Exploratory Art Studio
Let's explore! This class offers hands-on projects of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional works utilizing artistic skills and craftsmanship. The main focus is building or growing a portfolio of work. Some projects will be suggested by the teacher, but the student will ultimately select projects from a list of options. Projects may include: hand drawing in various styles, painting, collage, sculpting, models, jewelry, knitting, rope bowls, string art, mending and embellishing clothing, recycle/repurpose home decor, cosplay and costuming… This class is geared toward students with experience, but it is not required. Highschool Credit can be earned with an option of Standard or Honors (.25 per semester)

Supply Fee Covers: Supply fees cover: class demonstrations, project examples, worksheets & handouts, and some supplies used outside the sketchbook like clay/polymer, wood, nails, cardboard, glue, beads, string, yarn, fabric.
Student provided supplies: Required:
-Spiral bound sketch book, small-medium size (5 x 7 - 8.5 x 11 recommended)
-Colored Pencils, set of 8 or more
-Pencil (drawing set or basic number 2)
-Eraser (white block recommended)
Recommended:
-Watercolor paint set w/ paint brush
-Utility/Crafting Scissors (left or right handed based on the student)
*Please note that these items do not have to be new, your student is welcome to use
supplies they already own (sketchbook should have at least 30 blank pages). Also some project options can use recyclable materials gathered from home such as plastic bottles and aluminum cans.
