Art Remix
What happens when classic art meets modern style? In Art Remix, we will delve into iconic art movements (Pop Art, Surrealism, Cubism, Street Art, Manga, and more) and discover how culture, history, and identity can shape artistic expression.
Throughout the year, students will explore various cultural artistic styles, study famous artworks, and learn about significant artistic eras and events in history. We will remix well-known works using fresh techniques and personal flair. Projects will blend traditional and contemporary approaches like zentangles, collage, digital art, and meme culture to encourage creativity, experimentation, and critical thinking.
This class is where art history gets a bold new twist—and students become part of the story.
*Note: this class will utilize Google Classroom and students will learn to use Canva. Students will also have independent studying and creative writing assignments. These are all required for credit-seeking students, and highly encouraged for all others to get the most out of the class. Please let me know if you'd like more information about what this entails.
Rev 8/2025 - This class will shift to a hybrid format beginning in January. In addition to our regular Friday in-person class, we will meet online once a week for approximately one hour. This online session will then serve as the main lecture and lesson time. The Friday in-person class will become a check-in, art studio, and creative collaboration hour, giving students time to work on their projects with direct support and peer interaction.
