Odyssey of the Mind Elementary
Odyssey of the Mind challenges students to work as a team to develop creative solutions to challenges, build them economically, and then present their solutions in a year-end competition held in March or April. This class combines STEM and drama, and hones their time management, communication, and critical thinking skills by reimagining what objects can be used for. Students begin to learn the art of role-playing and acting, learn tricks to help with limited public speaking, are encouraged to be spontaneous, prepare for the unexpected, and use creativity to solve problems together.
Odyssey of the Mind class requires both in-class and at-home participation once students decide which challenge category they want to solve: Vehicle Problem, Technical/Performance Problem, Classics Problem, Structure Problem, or Performance Problem.
