In this engaging high school course, students will explore the art of storytelling by writing their own original works of fiction. Through the study of key story elements—such as plot structure, character development, descriptive language, theme, and scene building—students will gain the tools to craft compelling narratives. The class will emphasize the writing process, from brainstorming and drafting to peer editing and final revision, fostering a supportive workshop
environment where students can share and refine their work. Throughout the year, local authors will visit the class to offer mentorship, share insights into the writer’s craft, and provide real-world perspectives on editing, publishing, and the creative journey.
