Spanish 1
Do you need foreign language credits for graduation requirements? We will practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish through games and engaging activities. Students will develop basic conversation skills useful for real-life communication. Some of the topics we will cover are: personal and family information, greetings and expressions of courtesy, foods and beverages, places and locations,
seasons and weather, clothing and common objects, and present tense verbs. Students will prepare a presentation once a semester. Students will also complete two in person oral interviews with a native Spanish speaker. This will reinforce the purpose of this class, which is to feel comfortable applying the language skills you are acquiring.
This class will meet in person on Fridays and have an additional online meeting either Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons at 12:00 or 1:00pm. Students should expect 2 hours of homework a week that include authentic experiences such as listening to a song, playing a game, or leaving Señora Tera a voice mail!
