
Art Meets Math
Art and design practice in this project based learning class that will explore art with math and design fundamentals. Class projects will include elements of shape, form, scale, proportion, symmetry and more. And will practice skills of counting, measuring, and calculations. All that said it's heavy on the creative side with both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art and craft projects. Some projects will be assigned by the teacher, and many will be selected by the student from a list of options. Projects may include: sculpting (clay, polymer), making miniature models (cardboard, wood, fabric), sketchbook work in patterns (colored pencil), drawings in facial proportions, jewelry and charms (bead work), pot holders, rope bowls, string art...

Supply Fee Covers: class demonstrations, project examples, worksheets & handouts, and most supplies used outside the sketchbook: clay/polymer, wood, nails, glue, beads, string, yarn, fabric

Required:
-Spiral bound sketch book, small-medium size (5 x 7 - 8.5 x 11 recommended)
-Colored Pencils, set of 8 or more
-Pencil (drawing set or basic number 2)
-Eraser (white block recommended)
Recommended:
-Utility/Crafting Scissors (left or right handed based on the student)
*Please note that these items do not have to be new, your student is welcome to use supplies they already own (sketchbook should have at least 25 blank pages). Also around 2-3 projects will use recyclable materials gathered from home such as cardboard and plastic bottles.
